Praise and Worship: Why Observe Yom Kippur?
For the next 24 hours…
…I am going to be off work and offline.
Along with thousands and thousands of other believers in Yeshua/Jesus…
…I am going to be observing one of the special biblical days that Jesus Himself observed:
It is not a Jewish holiday.
It is a GOD holiday.
It is one of the days that He Himself has instructed people, Jew and Gentile, to observe each year.
You may not know much about it, or you may have not acted upon what you have been taught about Yom Kippur up to now.
In any case, I am following Jesus’ lead on this one.
Tonight, from sundown Tuesday to sundown Wednesday, it is a day to fast, repent, receive forgiveness and pray for others.
Do this: open up to Leviticus chapter 23. Read the whole chapter in context.
Then, go back and read verses 26-32 about Yom Kippur.
Even though God will no longer ‘destroy’ people for not observing this day (v 30), it is a perpetual statute that has never been cancelled.
So, read those verses tonight, repent for any sin that has lingered in your life, receive His forgiveness through the holy blood of Yeshua (Jesus), and praise Him for his mercy.
THEN, pray for those around you who have not yet repented, or have not received God’s mercy yet.
Pray that their eyes may be opened and flooded with light (Psalm 119).
I will be praying for you tonight and tomorrow, and for your whole family, just like Jesus did on the Day of Atonement.
He ever liveth to intercede for you (Hebrews 7:25).
This is the perfect day to remember what Yeshua has done for us, and to lift up those who have not bowed the knee….yet.
Have a blessed evening in the Lord’s holy presence,
